Maths Activities Parents Can Do At Home

At year 5 they will be working at early curriculum level 3. At year 6 they will be working at curriculum level 3, solving realistic problems using their growing understanding of number, algebra, geometry, measurement and statistics. They will be solving problems involving several steps, for which they need to choose the most appropriate method to help them solve the problem. They will be learning a range of approaches to solve problems and will be able to make general statements about numbers and patterns.

Exploring, questioning, working systematically, visualising, conjecturing, explaining, generalising, justifying, proving… are all at the heart of mathematical thinking.
